Tisanes are prepared from fresh or dried healthful herbs. Those herbs can sometimes help in preventing or curing some illnesses. Herbs can be used as finely chopped or minced like powder (if using dried herbs).

If you prefer to use dried herbs, than you will probably keep some amount of them for later consummation. The best way to keep dried herbs is in paper bags or glass jars, never in plastic bags or containers! To dry herbs you wish to use for tisane, leave them in some cool and ventilated place and in shades, don't use quick drying of herbs by putting them directly under the sun or in microwave!

Tisanes can be prepared in few different ways, we can :
  • pour boiling water over the herbs, let everything rest like that for 10 to 15 minutes, than filter the tisane,
  • put the herbs in hot water and when it boils, move and let everything rest like that for 3 to 5 minutes, than filter the tisane (solid parts of herb, like roots, peel or seeds must be boiled for longer time, like 10 to 15 minutes),
  • soak herbs in cold water and leave them like that overnight, and in the morning just brew everything until boiling point and immediately filter tisane (THIS IS THE BEST WAY TO GET HEALTHY BENEFITS OF HERB),
  • soak herbs in cold water and leave them like that overnight and just filter them in the morning.

For all tisanes, there is one common rule that can be used: take 1 to 2 teaspoons of dried herb (or one teaspoon more of fresh herb) per 2 or 3 cups of water.

To improve the taste of tisane, we can add lemon juice or honey.  For help in health improvement, the best way of using those tisanes is sipping them in several times per day in small amounts, sips.
